An interactive telebroadcasting network with tree architecture comprising an operating station in which the broadcasting of television programmes, images and sound programmes is controlled and a support for broad-band transmission of all the programmes is characterized in that it comprises a user derivation unit assembly (21, 25) comprising: means (50, 51a) for interrogating a user derivation unit (99); means (84, 72, 69, 68) for transmitting a programme request from the user to the operating station once the user's unit has been addressed by the operating station; means in the operating station for generating a validation signal (100) in response to the request; means (72, 80, 85, 87) arranged in the user derivation unit for selecting a programme from all the programmes broadcast dependent on the validation signal, the user derivation unit being located on the tree architecture between the operating station and the user's television receiver.
