Process for preserving the appearance of surfaces of facades, claddings, partitions, walls and ceilings of buildings, monuments and the like

In order to preserve the appearance of surfaces of facades, claddings, partitions, walls and ceilings of buildings, monuments and the like, especially against the effect of water, of graffiti and of the development of algae, the surface to be treated is impregnated with a solution containing, in a suitable solvent, at least one varnish capable of polymerising in situ at ambient temperature, the polymerised varnish being insensitive to the usual solvents for paints and for marking inks or the like and to the usual cleaning agents for such surfaces. The polymerisable varnish preferably belongs to the class of long-oil polyalkyl varnishes or to the class of polyurethane varnishes.
