The present invention relates to a SIVCPZ retrovirus related to HIV-1 and which naturally infects chimpanzees, and to the DNA fragments of this retrovirus. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing a protein and/or an enzyme of this virus, to the protein and/or enzyme thus obtained, to antibodies raised against this antigenic protein and to their uses.
