The invention concerns the decoking of the internal walls of a hydrocarbon vapour cracking installation by means of solid particles of very small size which are injected into the stream of gas which circulates in the tubes 12 of the vapour cracking furnace 10 and in the quenching boiler 16. A cyclone 28 at the outlet of the quenching boiler permits separating the solid particles from the gaseous effluents and recycling the solid particles into the installation after they have been mixed with a liquid hydrocarbon and their pressure has been raised again by means of a pump 38. The invention permits decoking a vapour cracking installation without stopping its normal operation. IMAGE
