摘要

The potential for stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of copper nuclear fuel wastecontainers in a conceptual Canadian disposal vault has been assessed through a review of the literature and comparison of those environmental factors that cause SCC with the expected disposal environment. Stress-corrosion cracking appears to be an unlikely failure mode for Cu containers in a Canadian disposal vault because of a combination of environmental factors. Detailed reviews of the SCC literature are presented as Appendices.
