摘要

The aim of the invention is to obtain a document storage system which enables a maximum volume of graphical data to be stored in a minimum space while permitting rapid and virtually immediate viewing of the graphs to be consulted. The system comprises first storage means (32) for storing printable high-definition data and second storage means (35) for storing data which can be viewed on a screen and obtained by sub-sampling of said high-definition data, said second storage means (35) co-operating with means for rapid consultation of said viewable data on a viewing screen (38), means (33) for compression and decompression of said viewable data, which enable said data to be stored in compressed form in said second storage means (35), and memory-management means (39) for temporary storage, in a viewing memory (34), of data selected by anticipation from said second storage means (35), said selected data being stored in decompressed form in said viewing memory (34) so that they can be viewed immediately when commanded by said means for rapid consultation. This system can be applied advantageously to the operation and maintenance of complex industrial installations.
