Lagging mat independent of construction spacing

For the lining of headings or roadways in underground mining and tunnelling, lagging mats are provided, the longitudinal bars 2 of which are bent to a double hook 3 at only one end of the mat, whereas the opposite end 16 of the mat has straight longitudinal bars. At this opposite end, transverse bars 9 are provided on the longitudinal bars, which transverse bars are disposed on the upper (9, 9') or also on the lower (9'') face of the mat and, when adjacent lagging mats are laid one upon another, hook into the ends 10 of the eyes, so that a firm connection longitudinally of the heading is obtained. The eye ends themselves are connected, behind the double hooks formed, to the longitudinal bars 2 by at least two transverse bars 7,8 so that a stabilized double hook is obtained, the free end 10 of the eye or tip of the bar being bent up from the plane of the mat, so that the relevant transverse bar 9 of the adjacent mat can be effectively secured there. In this way a lagging mat that can be used independently of the construction support spacing is created, which can be used for several different construction spacings. It is also conceivable to construct such a lagging mat sufficiently long to cover several bays. IMAGE
