PURPOSE:To permit the thermal spraying of a thermal spray layer on a steel having high hardness and therefore hard to execute thermal spraying with tight adhesion by providing this steel with an Ni plating layer and thermal- spraying a thermal spray layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:A steel having =45 Rockwell C hardness hard to execute thermal spraying because of its high hardness is provided with an Ni plating layer. The thickness of this plating layer is preferably regulated to about 50 to 600mum in general. A thermal spray layer is thermal sprayed thereon. As this thermal spray layer, metals, alloys, ceramics or the like are used, and, in particular, the one contg. Ni which has physico-chemical compatibility with the Ni plating is advantageously used. Furthermore, the thickness of the thermal spray layer is generally regulated to about 20 to 400mum, in particular, preferably regulated to about 50 to 200mum.
