PURPOSE:To simplify the construction over the entire part of the charged particle device by adding a change in the constitution of deflecting magnets and correcting the distortion in the equil. orbit of a charged particle by the effect of the deflecting magnets themselves. CONSTITUTION:The angle theta1 formed by both end faces 3 of the deflecting magnets 1 is determined dependently upon the distribution state of the leak magnetic fields generated at both end faces of the deflecting magnets 1. Since the BL product is proportional to a deflection angle according to such constitution, the distortion in the equil. orbit is decreased without using a correcting coil. Namely, the deviation with the equil. orbit can be decreased to a lower level by the structure of the deflecting magnets themselves in the small-sized accelerator having two pieces of the deflecting magnets 1 and, therefore, the need for a correction coil which is heretofore considered necessary is eliminated and since fewer steering magnets are necessitated, the accelerator is produced small in size over the entire part at a low cost.
