PURPOSE:To detect the fingerprints on special papers, such as banknotes, thermosensitive paper, with high probability by sticking iodine to fingerprint secretions and acting a soln. dissolved with a fluorescent material to form a clathrate compd. with the iodine on the specimen to form the clathrate compd., then removing the iodine. CONSTITUTION:The soln. prepd. by dissolving the iodine into an org. solvent such as cyclohexane, is sued to stick the iodine to the fingerprint secretions and a soln. prepd. by dissolving the fluorescent material which forms the clathrate compd. with the iodine into an org. solvent, such as chloroform or cyclohexane, is used as this fluorescent material. The clathrate compd. of the iodine and coumarin 6 is concentrically formed in the ridge line parts of the fingerprint when the fluorescent material to form the clathrate compd. with the iodine. For example, the coumarin 6 is previously brought into reaction with the iodine absorbed and stuck into the fingerprint lipid. The iodine is decomposed from the clathrate compd. and is easily sublimated and annihilated by heating this clathrate compd. or allowing the clathrate compd. to stand as it is. Only the coumarin remains concentrically in the ridge lines of the fingerprints and the coumarin is stimulated by stimulating light, such as, for example, laser beam, then the fluorescent fingerprint in detected.
