PURPOSE:To obtain the immune function activator which has large activatability and chemother apy coefft. and can be dosed in various manners by separating the plant glycolipid positive in Limulus test having specific properties from the plants which man and animal eat normally and refining this glycolipid. CONSTITUTION:Raw material plants, such as gymnosperm, Monocotyledoneae and Dicotyledoneae, are chopped, dried and crushed at need and thereafter, the plants are suspended in distilled water. The supernatant is recovered and the fractions of =5,000 mol.wt. are filtered away. The resulted dry matter is suspended in distilled water to make 50mg/ml and the suspension is centrifugally separated. The supernatant is recovered. An acid and alkali are alternately added thereto, then the settling and recovering of the supernatant are repeated. The finally recovered supernatant is neutralized with an alkali and is thickened. The concn. soln. is gel-filtered. The plant glycolipid positive in Limulus test which has about 8,000+ or -1,000 mol.wt. of 90% purity product by an SDS electrophoresis method, =1 phosphorus number per molecule, and respectively 6+ or -2 hexosamine number and fatty acid number is recovered. This glycolipid is used as it is or is used by diluting the same to an arbitrary extent and is effective as an oral drug, injection or embrocation. The preservable property thereof is enhanced when prepd. as dry powder.
