PURPOSE:To allow the production of various tones based on the physical structure of a natural musical instrument by computing and calculating waveform data by a technique of vibration analyses. CONSTITUTION:This device has a parameter setting means 1 which sets the parameter data to approximate the musical instrument to be subjected to synthe sis of its musical tones with the finite sets of field of the discrete elements joined at discrete nodes and an initial condition setting means 2 which applies the initial conditions corresponding to the initial displacement to the presumed musical instrument to the prescribed equation of mation with respect to the respective discrete elements. A waveform computing means 3 repeats and calculates the solution to the prescribed equation of motion based on the parame ter data and the initial conditions 4 by the technique of the vibration analyses and forms musical tone waveform data 4 changing with time. The production of the various tones based on the physical structure of the natural musical instrument is executed in this way.
