NEW MATERIAL:(1R)-4,7,9-Trihydroxy-10-methoxy-8-methyl-1-phenyl-(1H)- anthra[1,2-C]-furan-3,6,11-triol of the formula, a salt thereof and an ester derivative thereof. The physical.chemical properties of the compound; solubility: soluble in acetone, chloroform, cyclohexane, benzene, methanol and water in amounts of only 1mg/ml, respectively; but well soluble in dioxane and pyridine; negative to the ninhydrin reaction; etc. USE:An agent for inducing the formation of the fruit bodies of the Basidiomycota. PREPARATION:A strain the belonging to the Streptomyces genus such as Streptomyces Sp. B-412 strain (FERM P-11004) is cultured.
