PURPOSE:To transmit positive and negative signals without waveform distortion by connecting the cathode of a diode to the n1 layer of a thyristor and connecting the anode to the n2 layer. CONSTITUTION:A diode 2 is connected in anti-parallel between the n1 layer and the n2 layer of a thyristor 1. That is, the cathode R of the diode 2 is connected to the n1 layer, the anode A is connected to the n2 layer, and second and third junctions 2, J3 are bypassed by the diode 2. Here, if the diode 2 is connected in anti-parallel to the forward direction of the thyristor 1 between the n1 and n2 layers, when a reverse bias is applied to the thyristor 1, the third junction is bypassed. Accordingly, the influence of the partial voltage of the third junction is eliminated, a recovery current is increased, and the continuing time is substantially increased. Accordingly, a negative current having sufficiently large amplitude and constant width can be fed by using the recovery current. Thus, positive and negative signals can be transmitted without waveform distortion.
