PURPOSE:To magnetically separate fine magnetic powder in a treatment solution at high recovery rate by using a fine wire or foil of a hyperfine-crystal alloy having a composition containing Fe, at least one element among Cu, Ag, and Au, and other selected specific elements. CONSTITUTION:In a magnetic separation device for separating iron, etc., from waste water, a fine wire or foil of a hyperfine-crystal alloy having a composition represented by a formula and also having a structure where crystalline grains of =500Angstrom average grain size comprise at least 50% is used.
