KNITTED FABRIC WITH POCKET HAVING RIB STITCH AND METHOD FOR KNITTING THE SAME

PURPOSE:To simply obtain the subject knitted fabric of high merchandise value excellent in appearance and functional beauty with good productivity by forming a pocket integral with the body part according to a specific knitting method and integrally forming rib stitch parts for reinforcing in an opening of the pocket. CONSTITUTION:A front fabric is initially knitted with front knitting needles and/or back knitting needles of a flat knitting machine and the front fabric in a pocket is knitted with one of the knitting needles at the position of the pocket and the front part of the pocket with the other in a state of the lateral edge thereof braided with the front fabric. Yarn for preventing stitch fray is then fed to the knitting needle for the front fabric at the top position of the pocket. A prescribed knitting needle is subsequently emptied to form rib stitch parts at the top of the pocket with the aforementioned empty needle and the knitting needle in the front part of the pocket. The stitch of the prescribed knitting needle for the rib stitch parts is subsequently transferred to the knitting needle for the front part of the pocket to carry out end treatment and the knitting needle in the rib stitch parts is emptied. The stitch of the knitting needle for the front fabric at a position facing to the empty needle is finally transferred to the empty needle to knit the front fabric. The yarns for preventing fray of shaken down stitches are then prevented from fraying by heat treatment.
