PURPOSE:To protect telephone lines and the like from a surge of indirect lightning stroke by setting the size of an apparatus main body provided with a surge protecting portion to three stages and two cross lines of standard wiring modules 1, and detachably mounting the apparatus main body to a standard frame embedded in the wall. CONSTITUTION:A surge protecting portion 4 comprising a varistor, etc., and a power terminal block 6 are both mounted inside an apparatus main body 1. A body 2 is provided with storing portions 7, 8 which correspond to the surge protecting portion 4 and the terminal block 6, respectively, and a channel 9 used as an insulating separator is provided in the outside of the body 2. The body 2 is coupled to a cover 3 by elastic engagement pieces 11 provided on both sides of the cover 3. The body 2 is connected to telephone lines on the back side of the main body 1. The size of the main body 1 and a mounting frame 21 is that of a predetermined two-serie module and an engagement hole 22 into which the engagement hole 13 of the main body 1 is engaged is provided in one side piece of the insulating mounting frame 21 and an elastic engagement portion (not shown in the figure) is provided in the opposite side piece, and mounting holes 24 to 26 are bored through the frame 21. The main body 1 is detachably mounted to the frame 21 and is stored in a switch box provided on the wall and a frame 27 is mounted thereon and a decorative panel 28 is fitted over the frame to complete protection of the telephone lines from a surge of indirect lightning stroke.
