PURPOSE:To provide a digestive organ-directing drug carrier and drug comprising a polymeric material having carboxyl group on side chain and effective in organ-specifically delivering a drug such as remedy or diagnostic to a digestive system including sublingual system, especially to the stomach and intestines. CONSTITUTION:The objective digestive organ-directing drug carrier and drug can be produced by using a polymeric material having carboxyl group on side chain as the drug carrier. The polymeric material is e.g. a mucopolysaccharide such as hyaluronic acid, a natural polymer containing carboxyl-containing side chain introduced thereto, a synthetic polymer such as polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, polyfumaric acid, polymaleic acid, polyitaconic acid or copolymer of the above monomer with other monomer or their mixture. Since the carrier can organ-selectively deliver a drug such as remedy or diagnostic to the digestive organs such as stomach or intestine, the drug action in the digestive organ can be maximized and the side effect of the drug in the other organ can be minimized.
