PURPOSE: To provide a biodegradable composition that comprises an active component, a biodegradable carrier and a substance for controlling the hydrolysis of the carrier and is useful for delivering the active component into in vivo tissues for many hours. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains (A) an active component, (B) a biodegradable carrier which comprises a mixture of two different kinds of polymers of formula I (R1 is an alkylene, an alkenylene, a cycloalkylene, and arylene; R2 and R3 are each an alkyl, an alkenyl, an aryl or they mutually form an intermolecular covalent bond (further, together with the same oxy C to form a covalent bond and form a 5-8C and O-containing a heterocyclic ring, R2 and R3 form an alkylene or an alkenylene) and is degraded by hydrolysis, when it contacts with in vivo tissue, preferably a mixture of polymer ortho-ester of formula II ((m) is 100-300) and formula III ((n) is 50-400) at a weight ration (II/III) of 50/50-90/10, and (C) a substance for adjusting the sustained release by controlling the degradation of the carrier by hydrolysis.
