PURPOSE:To purify the titled transferase, easily, by administering a carcinogenic chemical substance to effect the formation of hyperplastic nodule in liver, extracting and homogenizing the liver, and subjecting to e.g. glutathione affinity chromatography, etc. CONSTITUTION:A mammal such as rat is administered with a carcinogenic chemical substance (e.g. DEN) to form a hyperplastic nodule. The liver of the mammal is extracted, homogenized in the presence of sucrose, and subjected to the glutathione affinity chromatography (e.g. S-hexylglutathione-sephalose chromatography) and the cellulose chromatography (e.g. DE52 cellulose chromatography) by combining the centrifugal separation and dialysis. The objective glutathione-S-transferase-P can be purified in high yield by the above simple operation.
