POLIOMYELITIS VIRUS AS VECTOR AND ORALLY ADMINISTRABLE VACCINE PRODUCED BY THE SAME

PURPOSE:To contrive to prepare an orally administrable vaccine having improved safety and activity by infecting a specific plasmid structure in the cultured cells of monkey or man. CONSTITUTION:The structural protein region of a poliomyelitis virus of (C) 1 type mahony strain and ceivine strain is artificially defected from (B) poliomyelitis virus complementary DNA(cDNA) to (A) poliomyelitis virus genome RNA to prepare (D) a recombinant DNA plasmid structure. The component B is also combined with a promoter such as phage T3 recognizing a RNA- synthesizing enzyme to prepare the component D. The component C-lost portion of the component B is combined with (E) any other kind of virus genome (e.g. CAT gene) to prepare (F) a chimera type recombinant DNA plasmid structure. The component F is treated with a RNA polymerase such as phage T7 to prepare (H) a chimera type virus RNA. (G) The cultured cells of a monkey are infected with the components D and H to prepare (I) a chimera type poliomyelitis virus vaccine. The component I is subsequently processed into an orally administrable vaccine.
