PURPOSE:To remove the dusts and odorous components in waste gases having dusts and malodors easily by purifying said waste gases in a scrubbing section with water and a scrubbing section with activated sludge liquid and adding part of the soln. after scrubbing with water to the activated sludge liquid after removal of the dusts. CONSTITUTION:Factory waste gases contg. dusts and org. malodorous components such as phenols are supplied into an absorption column 2, and part of the dusts and malodors are removed with water in a water scrubbing section 4. The remaining malodorous components are removed with activated sludge liquid in a scrubbing section 8 with activated sludge liquid, and the gases are released as clean gases into the atmosphere through a gas releasing hole 1. The water contg. the dusts and part of the malodorous components enters a water tank 3 and the activated sludge liquid contg. the malodorous components falls onto a partition plate 7, and is fed through a conduit 9 into an aeration tank 11, where the liquid is digested by bacteria and is decomposed to water, carbon dioxide and org. acids. The activated sludge is fed to a settling tank 23 where the same is separated to sludge and supernatant liquid. The sludge is returned to the tank 11 and the supernatant liquid is released.
