NEW MATERIAL:Origin: separated from spleen of C57BL/6J newborn mouse, form: small star-like cell having tree branch-like protoplasmic process and observable overlapped protoplasm when densely gathered, functional characteristics: a cell strain MSS 16 (FERM BP-2438) having properties capable of carrying out the culture of mouse fetal hepatic cell or mouse bone marrow cell as a supporting cell in the presence of erythropoietin, forming a huge erythrocyte colony and denucleated erythrocyte, carrying out the culture of mouse fetal cell and forming a small amount of granular colony, and promoting the formation of erythroblast colony or/and granular colony. USE:Promotion for in vitro production of erythrocytic cells. PREPARATION:Spleen of C57BL/6J newborn mouse at 3-6 days after birth is finely cut and cleaned with alpha MEM and suspended in alpha MEM containing fetal calf serum and subcultured in a culture medium containing RITC 80-7.2% fetal calf serum, 0.02% fetal serum albumin, 10ng/ml transferring, 1mug/ml insulin, 10pg/ml epithelial cell growth factor(EGF) and 2.5ng/ml ethanol amine and then subjected to cloning of cell.
