摘要
PURPOSE: To obtain an-aromatic nitrile, which is useful as an intermediate for producing medicines and agricultural chemicals, at a reduced catalyst cost with a high yield by the cyanation of a haloaromatic compound using a catalyst prepared in situ, using nickel chloride as the starting material. ;CONSTITUTION: Ni(Pϕ3)2Cl2 catalyst is obtained by reacting NiCl3 or NiCl3.6H2O and Pϕ3 (ϕ is phenyl) as the starting material so as to produce substantially dry Ni(Pϕ3)2Cl2, and reacting the Ni(Pϕ3)2Cl2 with at least one equivalent Pϕ3 in a reaction solvent selected from the group consisting of a 2-5C alcohol (t- butanol is particularly preferable) and an aprotic polar solvent (acetonitrile is particularly preferable) in the presence of a reducing metal having a reducing potential larger than Ni in the same reaction vessel as the above reaction. Then, an aromatic nitrile can be obtained by adding a compound represented by the formula (wherein X denotes Cl or Br; Y denotes CHO or CF3; (m) is 1 to 3; and (n) is 0 to 2) to the above reaction vessel so as to form a complex with the catalyst, and adding NaCN or KCN.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
