PURPOSE:To improve the utilization factor of a positive electrode during high- efficiency discharge and intend smaller size and lighter weight by adding silver sulfide with silver content being 3-12wt.% in positive-electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:An element battery 4 is constituted by a positive electrode layer 1, a negative electrode layer 2 and an electrolytic layer 3, and the positive electrode layer 1 has silver sulfide with the mixture ratio of silver being 3-12wt.% contained in positive-electrode active material. Accordingly, as discharge proceeds on, silver sulfide is reduced and deposited as metallic silver in positive-electrode combining agent. Silver itself has good electronic conductivity, therefore to restrain the increase of internal resistance in the positive- electrode combining agent and to perform smooth collection in the positive- electrode combining agent. Also, composite sulfide of silver and iron is easily prepared and short circuit due to dendrite of the deposited metallic silver is hardly caused. It is thus possible to improve the utilization of a positive electrode during high-efficiency discharge and intend smaller size and lighter weight.
