PRODUCTION OF INTERMEDIATE METABOLITE OF BIPHENYL COMPOUND CONTAINING BENZOIC ACID AND OF BENZOIC ACID DERIVATIVE BY USING RECOMBINANT MICROORGANISM HAVING BPHABCD GENE AND BIPHENYL METABOLIZING FUNCTION
PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain benzoic acid or derivative thereof in good yield by covering biphenyl or derivative thereof into benzoic acid or derivative thereof with a transformed microorganism obtained by using a specific biphenyl metabolizing gene. CONSTITUTION:A host microorganism belonging to Escherichia coli is transformed by using a recombinant plasmid vector obtained by binding a biphenyl metabolizing gene having a function capable of covering a biphenyl derived from Pseudomonas putida or derivative thereof into benzoic acid or derivative thereof to a plasmid vector. Biphenyl or derivative there of is converted into benzoic acid or derivative thereof by using the resultant transformed microorganism. Furthermore, the above-mentioned metabolizing gene is preferably bphABCD gene having a basic pair of KD-base and having 7 Pat I, 2 Eco RI, 1 Bal II and 2 Bam HI DNA cut numbers by restriction enzymes.
