SERIES TYPE LEFT VENTRICULAR ASSIST DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: To safely achieve an effect and obtain an in-line type left ventricle helper device a available for a long term use by providing a bag-shaped pump for performing a pump action arranged in the main artery of a patient, and a detecting means for detecting a physiological phenomenon including an electrocardiogram and an arterial blood pressure related to each of the pulse. CONSTITUTION: A bag-shaped pump(IABP) 10 provides a bag-shaped pump 12 arranged into the artery 14 of a patient 16. An electrode 18 is arranged in the both sides of the bag-shaped pump 12 for taking the electrocardiogram of the patient, and a pressure sensor 20 is arranged in the end of the bag-shaped pump located adjacent to the heart of the patient for measuring the arterial pressure of the patient. And a lead wire 22 for connecting the electrode 18 and a preamplifier 24 and a lead wire 23 for connecting the pressure sensor 20 and the preamplifier 24 are arranged. A signal generated by the electrode 18 and the pressure sensor 20 is sent into the preamplifier 24 by passing trough the lead wires 22, 23, and further sent from the preamplifier 24 into a convertor 28, and the convertor 28 converts an analogue signal output from the electrode 18 and the pressure sensor 20 into a digital signal. The digitized signal is equivalent to the electrocardiogram and the blood pressure so that they are sent to a microprocessor 30.
