The subject of the present invention is a synthetic vector consisting of a chemical compound of low molecular weight, in particular lower than 5,000, which has an affinity for the cells exhibiting at their plasmic membrane receptors recognising specifically the sugar residues consisting of glycoside of saccharide rings, characterised in that it has a basic chemical structure to which are attached a number of glycoside of saccharide rings spaced so that each site for recognising these sugar residues of the receptor is capable of being occupied. A further subject of the present invention is the use of these vectors as an imaging agent or conjugates of this type of vector with a medication chosen especially from antitumour, antiviral and antiparasitic substances, and processes for the preparation of the said vectors.
