EXAMPLE:7-hydroxy-6-methoxy-2-methyl-8-{7-[[(1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-meth oxy-2- methyl)-4'-[1-(5-formyl-2-methoxy)phenoxy]]benzyl isoquinolinyl]oxy} isoquinolinium hydroxide. USE:Useful as antihypertensive drug having inhibitory action against antiotensin-I transmuting enzyme and long-acting time. PREPARATION:Powdered Sinomeni Caulis et Rhizoma is extracted by water or alcohols and the solvent is removed, then resultant residue is directly, or dissolving in water, etc., as necessary, fractionated with organic solvent, thus fatty-soluble component is removed and dissolved in ammonia water having pH9. Furthermore, the ammonia water solution is extracted by chloroform and subjected to a column chromatography using an elution solvent such as water do afford the objective compound expressed by the formula.
