NOVEL MICROBIAL STRAIN AND PREPARATION OF CYCLIC BETA-1,2-GLUCAN USING THE SAME

摘要

PURPOSE:To prepare cyclic beta-1,2-glucan in high productivity and high cultivation efficiency, by culturing a specific mutant belonging to Rhizobium genus, and collecting the cyclic beta-1,2-glucan produced and accumulated in the culture liquid. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Rhizobium genus and incapable of producing extracellular acidic polysaccharides or its constituent component is cultured to produce and accumulate cyclic beta-1,2-glucan in the culture liquid, and the glucan is separated from the liquid. The strain is obtained by the mutagenic treatment of known Rhizobium phaseoli AHU-1133 and is named as Rhizobium phaseoli RA-4, which is deposited to the Fermentation Research institute as FERM-P No.6725. The microbial characteristics of Rhizobium RA-4 is same as those of Rhizobium phaseoli AHU-1133 excluding the incapability of producing the extracellular acidic polysaccharide.
