In the device described, one or more acceleration sensors are stimulated by an electrical excitation so that one of the sensors functions as a structure-borne noise emitter, while the other(s) receive(s) these signals. Its performance, calibration, and coupling to the housing structure can thus be checked, via an evaluation circuit. Various embodiments are also described.
