MEASUREMENT OF EQUILIBRIUM PRESSURE OF HYDROGEN OCCLUSION AND RELEASE OF ALLOY FOR PRESERVING HYDROGEN

PURPOSE:To measure the titled equilibrium pressure, by putting a metal specimen to absorb and to release hydrogen under given conditions and a standard specimen not to absorb and not to release hydrogen in a balance in a high temperature-resistant high-pressure container, changing pressure of hydrogen, observing the change in weight. CONSTITUTION:A metal or alloy specimen to absorb hydrogen at a given temperature under given gydrogen pressure and to release hydrogen under heating and/or equilibrium pressure of hydrogen absorption and a standard specimen not to absorb or not to release hydrogen, having a know weight and a volume almost equal to the specimen are set, respectively, in cells attached to both arm ends of a balance built in a high temperature-resistant high-pressure container, the system is evacuated while keeping the cells at given same temperature, hydrogen pressure is changed at a given pressure interval and time interval stepwise, change in weight of the specimen of each step is obtained from change in slant of the balance, so that operation to obtain amounts of absorption or release of the specimen is repeated, to carry out the titled measurement.
