A process is described for the preparation of compounds of general formula (dry) (EO4M), (Imp)p (I) which comprises: a) preparing a compound of general formula EO4M (II) and, preferably, without separating out the compound of general formula EO4M from the reaction medium, b) introducing the impregnating compound Imp into the reaction medium, c) separating off any residual liquid from the reaction solid, d) drying and, if necessary, calcining. The preparation of catalysts wholly or partly comprised of the compounds according to this invention and application to catalysis of the solvolysis of alkyl halides is also described. IMAGE
