In certain prefabricated production, especially of points sleepers the dimensions and accurate location of fixtures 18 is of crucial importance. The fixtures must not be damaged or displaced during production. During the manufacturing process they must be immovably fixed in the shuttering but the fixing must not result in damage either to the finished item or to the fixtures as a result of movements during setting or when removing the shuttering. It must therefore be possible to break the fixing, as requited. The temporary connecting element proposed is a blind rivet 7 that can be inserted and tightened from the top, the shank 8 of which is introduced from the top through a bore 20 into a base plate 19 carrying the fixture 18 and through a hole 20 in the plate 1 defining the correct position of the fixture on the shuttering plate 1.
