Compsn. comprises (all wt.%): (a) 1.5-15 alkali-hydroxy or alkanol-amine salts of N-acteylated N-methyl-amino-acetic- or N-ethyl-amino-acetic- acid; separately or mixed. Individual or mixed fatty-acids of plant origin are used as acylating agents; (b) 2-20 N-contg. heterocyclic cpd.; pref. tolyl-triazole and/or benzothiazole and/or mercapto-benzothiazole and/or their alkali alts and (c) 70-90 buffer, which contains inorganic B cpds. comprising alkali-borates and/or salts of boric acid formed in the presence of excess boric acid, or of an organic amine and/or of alkali, with alkanol-amine and/or with alkali-hydroxide, and/or with an amine type organic cpd.. The concn. of the inhiitor compsn. in an ethylene-glycol contg. antifreeze is 0.1-2 wt.% based on ethylene-glycol
