The base (1) of the lamp has a central hole, with a threaded collar, giving access for the supply wiring to the standard lamp socket (20). The transparent globe (4) over the lamp (3) has an aperture at the bottom which is clamped between an internal plastics material cup (5) and an outer disc (7), which has a flange. When the flange is rotated anticlockwise w.r.t. the base, three stationary pins (9) are gripped by tapered slots in the deformable plastics material dics. The globe can be relased by turning the flange in the opposite direction.
