Respirator holder on fire-engine - has frame designed for reducing deceleration effect on respiration in collision

The holder is for a respirator used by firemen. It comprises a frame mounted on the fire-engine bodywork behind a seat and with supports securing the respirator, the latter being secured by straps to the fireman's back. When deceleration of the fire-engine above a predetermined value takes place, springs (6) in the frame (4) reduce the deceleration of the respirator. Typically these consist of metal bellows distorting plastically.
