The equipment for peeling onions has means for clamping the onion, and for moving it along a cutter parallel to its longitudinal axis. The onion is then rotated in front of a blower mouthpiece for a gas-form fluid. Two cutting blades are used, which in a first direction are moved away from each other, and then the onion is moved in a second direction between the blades. The blower mouthpiece is adjustable around a rotary axis which extends parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotation onion. It also incorporates feelers which probe the surface of the onion and a blocking mechanism is available to arrest the rotary axis in a desired position.
