Multiple layer polymeric film comprising (a) a first layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH); (b) a second layer of a vinylidene chloride copolymer (VDC); and (c) a third adhesive layer in surface-to-surface contact providing adhesion to at least 1 of the first and second layers of at least 100 g/in. width peel strength and comprising ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) having greater than 15% vinyl acetate, blends and copolymers of polypropylene and EVA having greater than 15% vinyl acetate, blends and copolymers of polypropylene and EVA, ethyl methacrylate copolymer, and pref. EVA comprising 18-35% vinyl acetate copolymer, anhydride modified EVA and anhydride modified polypropylene; ratio of the incremental water vapour transmission rate between the first layer and the outer surface of the film through the vinylidene chloride layer to the water vapour transmission rate between the first layer and the other surface of the film being not more than 0.25/1.
