SYNTHESIS METHOD OF BIS-(4-TRIMELLITIMIDOPHENYLE) METHANE

The process comprises reaction between trimellitic anhydride and 4,4'-diamino diphenyl methane at 130-190 deg.C in the presence of triethyl phosphite as catalyst. The imidising reaction gives azeotropic elimination of the water via xylene. Bis(4-trimellitic imido phenyl) methane is obtd., without the need for polar solvents of high boiling point and toxicity.
