SECALE CEREALE L. VAR. VULGARE KORN ORIZONT AUTUMN RYE KIND

The invention introduces a variety of fall rye(Secale cereale L.var.vulgare Korn) called Orizont, obtained by mass selection from a complex hybrid population, designed for cultivation as grain and as early spring green feed, in all cultivation areas of the country.This variety is a plant with intensive growth rate in spring, developed root system, semi-tall (height: 130-135 cm), 15-20 cm shorter than the tall Dankowskie Zlote variety; it has a thick straw, with prominent nodes, is resistant to falling and well anchored in the soil; the ear is prismatic, sometimes elongated, large (average;11.9cm), dense, with 38.8 earlets, with an average of 56.8 grains; grains are average size, heavy, yellow green colour. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, brown rust and very resistant to snow mold (Fusarium nivale). It is three days earlier than the Dankowskie Zlote variety. Grains have a protein content of 11.79%, amidon content of 62.87%, and an equivalent content of essential aminoacids. The Orizont variety has a high capacity of production and good production stability yielding an average of 4,718-4,940 kg/ha in different regions of the country.
