PURPOSE:To enable a diagnosis for possibility and non-possibilities of infection of ATL virus, by employing a reaction in which carrier particles sensitized to an adult T-cell leukocythemia (ATL) or its antigen elements agglutinate in the presence of the ATL virus antibody contained in a human serum infected with the ATL virus. CONSTITUTION:An ATL virus is a kind of retroviruses infected with a human T-cell and it is obtainable by culturing strained cells, such as ML-2, HUT-102, etc., separating a cell from culture liquid, and separating the ATL virus from this cell or culture liquid supernatant. For the carrier particles, those for indirect agglutination reaction may be used, such as, erythrocytes of man, sheep, etc., microorganism fangous bodies, such as fungus Serratio, gelatine particles, polystyrenlatex. Kaolin, carbon powder, etc. Further, to the induced reaction of the ATL virus or its antigen element to the carrier particles the Known method of sensitization of the antigens at large may be applied.
