The axial thickness of the centripetal annulus (13') of the flange is reduced to a size equal to the thickness of a washer (2), which is applied to form an armour plate on the surface (13''of the centripetal annulus (13'). The washer (2) is made of sheet metal of material which is tougher than that of the body (1) of the flange and is obtained by punching with a die (3, 3') from a sheet of metal (20, figure 4). The washer (2) is applied however, to armour the surface (13'') of the body (1) but preferably is attached, so to say, fixed permanently, in the body (1) of the flange.
