This invention is concerned with the machine and method for producing links for chains of the "mother-daughter" type, used in the ornamental field. It comprises a machine with two link stations where a small one (4) and a large one (8) are produced with scrolls (3) and spirals (7) and which, connected to the chain under construction (2) fed upwards, held by the last link of the pliers (1) which traverses from one station to the other, are cut producing the links, then closed and distorted by hooking and crimping units connected to each station. The small link is created from the relevant spiral (4) which is coupled with the last large link held by the pliers (1), while the large link is obtained from the relevant spiral (8) which attaches the second to last small link and the last large link (fig. 1)
