The process entails the combinationof an alkyaltion reaction step, a first separation step, asecond separation step, and a transalkylation reaction stepwherein the alkylation catalyst is comprised of phosphoricacid material and the transalkylation catalyst is comprisedof a crystalline aluminosilicate material. A key featureinvolves reducing transalkylation catalyst deactivation bytransalkylating only dialkylated aromatic compounds.
