Plants are described containing DNA sequences which arecapable of modifying the carbohydrate or proteinconcentration and the carbohydrate or protein composition.DNA sequences described reduce in the plant the ADP-glucose-pyrophosphorylase activity and thereby the starchconcentration and at the same time increases the mono- andoligosaccharide concentration. Other DNA sequences reduceor increase the protein concentration. Plants that containthese sequences are suitable inter alia for the extractionof sugar or as protein-enriched food or fodder.
