A process for somatic embryogenesis in Pelargonium comprising incubating Pelargonium plant parts in a growth medium including one or more embryo induction factors selected from auxins or cytokinins, or compounds having the effect of an auxin or cytokinin: a process for obtaining artificial seeds from the somatic embryos as well as the somatic embryos and artificial seeds produced, are described.
