PROCESS FOR REPAIRING AN INACCESSIBLE DOMESTIC PIPE USING A REMOTE-CONTROLLED DEVICE OPERATING IN THE MAIN

A device for repairing a main pipe (1) is also used to repair a leak in a corroded section of a bypass (2) which opens into the main pipe. This device comprises a rack (17) which can be deployed approximately radially and rotated on the axis of the bypass by rotating a pipe cover (14). A pipe (23), wherein from the center of the pipe cover (14) is fixed to the free end of the rack by means of a pipe member (29). An air bubble (31) is placed on the pipe member (29) and inflated by compressed air blown through the pipe until it goes to lodge in the derivation itself. After separation of the air bubble, a cover plate is mounted on the pipe end and a hardenable material is injected through the hose into the cavity formed between the cover plate and the air bubble (31). If the bypass has to be returned to service, the cured material is bored out to the diameter of the bypass (2) by the same device or another also operating in the main line (1).
