A PROCESS AND AN AGENT FOR DETECTION OF GENE STRUCTURES IN HUMANS HAVING A GREAT TENDENCY TO DEVELOP IDDM

An agent, for the detection in man of gene structures which are characteristic of individuals having a tendency to develop diabetes mellitus insulin dependent (IDDM), consists of a DNA sequence from the HLA gene -DG to the beta chain and comprising 154 bp from intron 1 (IVS1) and the first twelve assistants bp of exon 2 or a reactive fragment of said exon. Also disclosed is a method for identification of said chromosome structure hybridization DNA from the individual to be examined with the agent in a marked state and detection of the labeled hybrid.
