Process for the electrochemical preparation, with the addition of Brönsted acids, of electroconductive poly(alkoxythiophenes)

To prepare such polymers on an industrial scale, an electrochemical process for the preparation of electroconductive poly(alkoxythiophenes) is suitable in which the protons required for the cathode process are available by adding Brönsted acids to conductive salt and electrolyte solvent. The counterions in the doped polymer originate from the conductive salt, so that the properties of the polymer are substantially independent of the proton source.
